Year 1 | Semesters 1-2
Foundations at USTU
Students build their mathematics, programming, and machine-learning foundations on campus. In each semester, L&T EduTech delivers two theory courses and one co-taught laboratory (about 90 hours); the remaining courses are taught by USTU faculty.
Year 2 | Semesters 3-4
Industry Projects and Thesis
Delivered entirely by L&T EduTech – a professional elective and industry project in Semester 3, then an industry project and dissertation in Semester 4, under practitioner mentorship.

Course Structure
Program Outcomes
Independently formulate, investigate, and solve open-ended problems in artificial intelligence and machine learning, culminating in a dissertation or industry project that demonstrates original applied work.
Prepare substantial technical documentation and present research, design, and project outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, in written and oral form.
Demonstrate advanced, postgraduate-level command of AI/ML theory and practice – spanning statistical foundations, machine learning, and deep learning – beyond the level expected at the bachelor’s degree.
Design, deploy, and maintain AI/ML systems in production settings, applying MLOps practices across the model lifecycle including deployment, monitoring, and drift management.
Architect AI/ML solutions for scale, using distributed computing frameworks and sound application architecture and deployment principles suited to real-world data volumes and enterprise constraints.
Apply AI/ML skills in an industry-integrated setting, working to professional and ethical standards under practitioner mentorship, as demonstrated through the L&T EduTech-led project work and internship experience.
Program Scope
The AI/ML and Big Data talent market has a supply-demand gap of around 50 to 54 percent. India’s digital tech talent gap is expected to grow from 0.5 million in 2023 to 1.4 million by 2028, driven mostly by AI and Big Data roles. Tech job postings rose by 476,000 between 2023 and 2024, with Generative AI and Applied AI leading the growth, followed by cybersecurity, cloud architecture, and DevOps. Demand for postgraduate AI talent runs ahead of supply, with a hiring premium for postgraduates over generalist graduates.
Program Eligibility
Applicants with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for reserved category candidates) in B.Tech./B.E. (all streams), MCA, AMIE, M.Sc. (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Electronics), or any other UGC-approved equivalent qualification are eligible to apply for the M.Tech. program.

Internship
Semester 3 runs mid-July through October as a blend of virtual instructor-led training by L&T experts and on – campus project work.
Around October or November, students who clear the learning modules and meet LTIM’s criteria go through a preliminary campus recruitment round for an internship at LTIMindtree.
Students with no internship or placement offers from other hiring partners till December get internship support through other L&T Group or partner companies, or move onto an industry capstone project for Semester 4.
Placement
Every student gets access to a dedicated online dashboard that displays live internship and placement opportunities accessible throughout the program. Students can view openings, applications, and industry connect from L&T EduTech and USTU’s hiring network through this dashboard.
